Story of a Short Trip to the South, Though the Warmth is Still Not Available! (Yet, part 1!😁)

Standard

Or the story of a summerkid in the wrong space & time!!

Bodensee by day!

This year, the school holiday began here in our town the last week of March, and as usual, my adorable wife wanted to get out of the dull and constant life. Therefore, a trip was required!
We drove to Meersburg am Bodensee in South Germany for a few days. Although it is a beautiful village, it could be much more enjoyable later in Summer. One must be fortunate to have good weather at the end of March, and we weren’t!

The journey was supposed to last around seven hours, but it ended up taking nine due to three intense multiple car collisions that occurred on the way. Fortunately, we were not involved in any of them. We finally arrived at our destination feeling relieved. On the second day, we felt the gust of wind blowing around our ears, but as always, an order is an order: out to the village for a walk!

Read in my face!!
I wore everything I had with me, but it was still cold!

However, Mother Nature had mercy the following days, and the weather became a bit endurable.

We met at a museum of old house structures, which showed an interesting method of building houses: pile dwellings (Pfahlbauten) on the water.

It is a world heritage site with a range of exciting Stone Age and Bronze Age artefacts. Of course, much has happened in its history, and these houses have experienced many changes.
Here, I found an exciting placard of the different happening there.

It’s written down there: 1922, a time of upheaval or revolt, The Golden Age! It shows that it has not remained immune from these changes, although I don’t know what Howard Carter and his discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb are doing here!!🤔

And the guardian of the museum!

We also took a walk around and visited the pleasant environment.

Just as I suspected, the second part is needed! Many interesting things and actions remain, such as visiting the butterfly garden. So, until next time, thanks for dropping by.

  1. These are such wonderful photographs Aladin, thank you for sharing them with us. Ha-Ha! Yes, you do look rather fed up in the first photo! Cold temperatures get me that way too and is the reason why I could never live in a cold country … England is just about bearable! However, it does seem like Bodensee is a very interesting place which has many wonderful visitor attractions, let alone the town’s fabulous architecture! Love and light, Deborah.

    • Actually, I have nothing against cold, but I would like to have things in their proper place: cold in Winter, gentle in Spring and warm in Summer. However, with this chaos in our climate these days, everything is messed up! Thank you, my lovely Deborah. Have a beautiful week ahead.🥰💖🌟😘

  2. That looks like a beautiful village with some wonderful architecture Aladin. Those houses on stilts may be a thing of the distant past but we may be needing them again soon if the rain doesn’t stop very soon!! I’m looking forward to seeing the next instalment 🙂

    • Certainly, I hope the weather stabilizes soon. It is concerning to witness such extreme climate variations, with some areas experiencing flooding while others remain parched. I appreciate your thoughtful message and the time you took to reach out.🙏🥰🌹

What a beautiful village and, of course, I can’t wait to read about the butterfly museum and maybe see a photo or two. My older son takes me to the butterfly museum in North Carolina when I visit there. Be well and enjoy spring when it comes. It’s been unusually cold and wet in my area of western NY State while most of the world burns.

    • The weather has become a mess. Here in Northern Europe, it is also cold and wet, while in the South, people are praying for a drop of rain! And yes! I will try to post the second part this weekend and surely with photos of the butterflies.😉🤗🙏

  4. It may have been cold, but you went to a most charming place.

Thank you for all the lovely photos.

Travelling these days is not like the “Old” days.

Planes are cramped with no special service, traffic is thick at the best of times. Ships run the risk of big sickness spreads, and trains don’t go to many places in Canada.

Perhaps trains are a good option in Europe?

I am not speaking of commuter trains.

Anyway, I look forward to the rest of your travel!

    😀xo😀xo😀

    • Oh, train. Actually, it is a good idea and also much more stressless than driving in a mass. But as we considered, the car was cheaper than by train, and I must confess that DB, the German train organisation, is a failure itself; there are lots of missing in their schedules.🤓🙄
Thank you, Resa, for your heart-warming words.💖🙏💥🦋🌟
