Feeling Like a Stranger!

Standard

Honestly, I hadn’t intended to post today, but lately I feel like a stranger in the visual world, whether among Iranians and their struggles for freedom or here, among friends.
This isn’t because of feelings of abandonment or being unwelcome; it’s simply due to the constant activity by you and others, which I observe every day, and I can’t keep up! Certainly, I’m referring to those who post every hour, and I wonder how they manage their real lives. I’d love to hear some tips on that.😉
Anyway, while feeling like a stranger, I was inspired to find a beautiful poem by Bella Grim (even though I am not particularly poetic!), and I thought I would share it with you, along with a masterful song by Leonard Cohen. I hope you will enjoy it.

Feeling like a Stranger

By Bella Grim

When I’m me.
I’m right here.
It’s quiet, unless I do something about it.
It’s boring, unless I fill the air.
It’s humiliating if I let it be.
It’s complicated.
Unless I solve the problem

When they see
Non believe
It’s loud unless I share
But they frown around

It’s me.
Just me to do something about
Just a little way above

It’s fun when I’m me
It’s like flying in the sea
It’s freeing if I want it
It’s exciting if I let it be.

It. Is. Me.

Thank you for the poem and song. I’ve never seen/heard either one and they’re both haunting. I think both are saying that we need to be who we are, not the way others are, not the way we wish we could be, but simply the way we are. Who you are is more than enough, Aladin. If you were caught up in trying to be more than you are, you’d become less of who you are, which is a wonderful, talented, kind man who loves what he loves and shares what he loves with the world. Believe me. That’s more than enough. As Jung said, “The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are.” The ultimate goal is the journey of self-discovery and individuation: the process of developing and expressing your authentic self, free from societal pressures and expectations. Love and blessings, Jeanie

    • That is a privileged lesson, my lovely teacher, and I feel I am somehow uplifted! I meant it sincerely; you provided me with immense encouragement through your responses to my comments on your posts, which strengthened my thoughts and beliefs. You have Dr Jung in mind, as I do; so here is another, which I should also pay attention to: “if the path before you is clear, you’re probably on someone else’s.” I am truly grateful for your wisdom and guidance. 🙏🙏💖💖

  2. Tis the plight of deep experiencers like us to feel alone, even (nay, Especially) in a crowded room… This morning my mother complained similarly, about overbearing dinner party guests last evening. She described one of them as posting tens of pictures of herself every day on social media… Accounts that post here on WordPress more than once or twice per day are either 1) Bots or 2) People who mistake Journaling for Blogging. We barely have the time and energy to follow our own tangential consciousness! Let alone somebody else’s, in real time😖😅 I completely sympathize. Your schedule of posting is my #1 favorite of all the blogs I follow: 2 posts every Saturday. The Golden Standard in my opinion👍🖖

    • My dear EF, your words inspire me the most to stay on my path, as I see the finesse of your wisdom blossom each day. As we both know, art is not a mass production; art is a creation that demands a calm mind. Proving oneself doesn’t require smashing numerous eggs a day like a good hen!
Thank you for your friendship and profound words, which I sincerely appreciate.
Just a note: I always keep your posts safe to read quietly and enjoy. 😊👍🙏🖖

  3. I have no clue how prolific posters do it, so I can’t offer any tips on that, but I do want to tell you I’ve been listening to a lot of teachings based on Carl Jung’s work. ✨ Been thinking about you and the information you’ve shared through the years. Thank you. 🙏🏻🌼

  4. I get it, Aladin.

It’s hard to keep up with those who post daily. So I don’t. Some who I really like, I will catch up at times. For those who post multiple times a day, there must be an issue.

I find once every 5-8 days works for me, but I can’t be bothered with a schedule.

If you are a stranger, I am a stranger.

    Okay… I’m stranger to begin with. 🤭

Love the song (I know it and love it) and the poem (which I never heard before.

Thank you, you are my favourite stranger!

  5. I think we all feel like strangers from time to time, Aladin. The gift is shaking the feeling off as easily as you shed a garment. You can only ever see the world through your own eyes so maybe try to not be thrown off course by someone else’s sense of how to live, love, and be. You are an amazing spirit in a human body. And you’re making the best of it by inspiring others as you go. Thank you.
