First, the good news: We have had a new heating system since yesterday, and the place is slowly but surely heating up.
Now, the bad news: I have to sign off and make a break! Yesterday, I also went to the doctor, and I found out that I have a kidney problem and need treatment (I am not only mentally but also physically limited). So, I’m taking a break to see what happens next. I’m sorry if I am not as present as usual. Unfortunately, this year has not started well for us.
Health is valuable; take care of yourselves.π€π

You are absolutely right: health is a precious asset and often we realize it only when problems begin .
Take care of yourself, dearest Aladin.πΉ

Oh dear Aladin, Iβm so, so sorry to hear that youβre not feeling well in yourself. Weeks ago when you first shared that you were ‘stepping up’ for your boss, because he was unwell, I did worry that you may be taking on a huge amount of work, especially over the busy Christmas period.
Pressing pause and seeing what happens next sounds like the best plan! It’s time to put yourself and your needs first. I do hope that your doctor can throw more light on your health problems in the days and weeks to come. If needed, you know where I am, please donβt hesitate to reach out.
Last but not least, Iβm so pleased that your heating is fixed. I cannot imagine how unbearable it must have been for you both these past weeks. Sending you much love, light and healing reiki rays across the sea between us. xx

Thank you so much, lovely Deborah, for your heartfelt and kind words. You know how it is with ageing, and for us men, it is mostly down there in the prostate area! However, I plan to get a second opinion from the other doctor. Nevertheless, thinking positively is the best way! Sending love and gratitude.π€ππ€π

2025 has been rough for everyone, it seems. Can we go back?
Your physical and mental health should be your priority right now. Aging and maturing is great, but it can come with downsides.
I wish you good health and a speedy recovery. Take care of yourself.

I’m so sorry to hear that you’re going through this Aladin, it makes for such a worrying time for you and your family. As Debbie has already said you have been working hard and long hours for your boss, but now is the time for you to put yourself first, rest and focus on your own treatment and recovery. Getting a second opinion is always a sensible thing to do and there are such good treatments nowadays for the type of issues you’ve mentioned. I hope that the second opinion brings you more clarity about your position and that you find a positive way forward with treatment in the very near future. Sending you much healing, love and light, Lin

It’s not perfect, but it does help to rephrase things a bit: you found you have a problem BUT there is treatment available. Hope it goes well.
At 75, and having been chronically ill for 35 years, I’m used to the continued decline – still fight it, though. And try to get some writing done in spite of it.

May you find blessings in your infirmity. Compassion in your time of self-care. Companionship in your healing journey. Gratitude in the respite. Beauty in your surroundings. Love of life in your heart. Consolation in your tribulation.
This year has begun the same way for me as it has for you. On June 2 I had triple bypass surgery. I am healing well, I’m told. It’s a blessing it was found in time to forestall a much more dire outcome far sooner than I would have liked. I’ve felt surrounded by love, grateful for small kindnesses. Am learning more about true generosity of spirit. And diving deeper into the well of shadow that exists within and around me. Perhaps I will learn to welcome all of life one day. I hope so. I wish the same for you. Wishing you love and healing, Jeanie

My dear Jeanie,
Firstly, it saddens me to hear about your sudden problem (though it might sound synchronical!). I am very happy about your swift recovery. I also have all the compassion and love I need around me, and I am so grateful for that.
I have lived for 70 years without any problems, but it seems I haven’t been aware enough, as I have worked hard and ignored what may come. My main problem is my kidneys, which are affected by my poor bladder, preventing all the old stuff from coming out because of an enlarged prostate! Now, the doctor intends to leave the catheter in for a while, hoping the kidneys will relieve the stress.
Anyway, I had surgery last night and had a catheter inserted into my bladder. Tomorrow, they will look at my blood situation (hopefully, it won’t get worse), and I will rest at home until I have another surgery for my prostate.
An old proverb says the first hundred years are the most difficult ones! Sending love and gratitude. πβ€οΈ

Heartfelt thanks, my dearest Resa. A turbulent year is approaching, and we must be more vigilant. Since yesterday, I have been discharged from the hospital with a urine bag as a reminder! Of course, it fits in my bladder so that I can carry it more easily.
And yes, in this situation, having a warm place is indeed a blessing!
Sending love.πππ€

Oh, dear Aladin. I hope you get all the help you need to make a full recovery. So much of my struggle comes from health issues. I keep pushing forward, but there’s only so much I can do. I’ll be 80 in September. I don’t like whining about my health, but maybe that’s what I need to write about. I have had a healthy life, but that seems to be in the past. Please write about what’s happening to you. We don’t have to struggle alone. Sending you love and improving health.
Be warm and take care of yourself. As I read your comments, I think we are both facing the lessons of the body and impermanence. With tender hopes for healing.

You say that, my dear wise friend. Although I have been practising yoga for a long time as an actor, I still wasn’t fully vigilant about my body.
Yes! Every time we learn something new, I realise I am not fully aware of my own. However, it is now time to take on the challenge, and if I am lucky, I will get through this without further damage.
I must patiently carry a urine bag for several weeks until my bladder rests. Later, I will have prostate surgery; that is all I know for now.
Sending my immense gratitude.ππ

That’s a lot, Aladin, but I’m glad there’s a clear plan for how to cross this bridge. I have faith you’ll get through this and thrive. I’ve been taking excellent care of my body as a nutritionist and exercise teacher for decades. I’ve also done yoga most of my life and loved hiking and gardening, plus daily meditation, but Meniere’s Disease doesn’t seem to care about my record of good habits. It has no clear patterns but strikes randomly and more often than before. Getting old doesn’t help. And on I go doing the best I can just as you are doing the best you can putting up with the demands of embodiment. Sending you love, prayers, and healing.
