And the story continues; the youths’ uprising moves on despite they were executed every cock crowing time: They will never surrender!
As hard as this weather is, wait for me
“This time is difficult, wait for me:
we will live it out vividly.
give me your tiny hand:
let us rise up and suffer,
let us experience and rejoice.
We are once more the pair
who lived in bristling places,
in harsh nests in the rock.
This time is difficult, wait for me
with a basket, with a shovel,
with your shoes and your clothes.
Now, we need each other
not only for the carnations’ sake,
not only to look for honey:
we need our hands
to wash with and to make fire,
and just let the hard times dare
to challenge the infinity,
With four hands and four eyes.”

Thank you for sharing this poem, Alaedin!
I only discovered Neruda a couple of years ago.
This poem is fitting for todays world. It was fitting in yesterday’s world.
I have a “hard weather coming” feeling that it will be fitting in tomorrow’s world.
Love the Cohen song!

I am afraid this and many other poems from Neruda may fit for all time! So long, we will read and understand them; it gives hope– and I hope all of us get through that hard winter!
Thank you, my lovely Resa.🖖💖🙏🤗😘
